CHRISTMAS MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE MAYOR OF SEDIBENG

2011 has been a very busy and challenging year for the Sedibeng District Municipality. Sedibeng, like the rest of the country and the world, is feeling the economic effects of the recession. We remain committed to alleviating the negative impact through focusing on job creation and poverty alleviation, especially through infrastructure development.

The Evaton Renewal Project has made some progress in this regard, with the completion of the Mafatsane Thusong Centre, roads construction and housing developments, and the agricultural cooperative.

Some jobs have been created and better services can now be provided to the people of Evaton, than before. In 2012 the food gardens campaign will go a long way towards alleviating poverty and food shortages.

However, a lot still needs to be done next year. As government we can improve service delivery projects through better inter-governmental planning and communication. From national, to the province, to Emfuleni, to the Sedibeng District, the focus for 2012 must be to work together more efficiently and effectively.
